Summer is a time that there is more free time for play. Play is a great way to develop social and emotional skills. It is a way to increase language as well as gross and motor skills. This sounds like work? That's correct! It is a lot of work but is a lot more fun than sitting at a table drilling a child using flash cards. It is a natural setting but can bring lots of great results.
Over the next few weeks we will be looking at play. The first few posts will be on the types or levels of play. Not all play is created equal. We will look at these stages of play. After looking at these types of play, we will look at ways to facilitate play and activities to try for skill development.
I will leave you with the activities I did with some boys this morning.
