A Time to Tear and Mend?

A Time to Tear and a Time to Mend Eccl. 3:7a

Opposites! I look to the Bible to give me wisdom not choices! OK, that's not really true! I want choices when I want choices! I want precise direction sometimes. The problem is that when I want one of these I get the other. There is no winning this one. Why? I believe that God has various lessons for me to learn in my life. He is the one who is incharge, not me. I am not the conductor of the universe nor of my life. I often think I am the one in charge but in the little things of life, God reminds me it is Him, not me. How long will it take me to learn this? Obviously, a long time.

What does this have to do with a time to tear and a time to mend? It has everything to do with it. Sometimes God calls me to embrace brokenness and work at the restoration process. A time to mend! At other times, he tells me to cut my losses and move on to something else. A time to tear!

But when do I tear and when do I mend? This is where wisdom comes in. Where do I receive it? God's Word is central to this process. Always use scripture to interpret scripture. Make every decision in line with all of God's Word. Never give up on something that God's Word explicitly tells you is God's will. This will take lots of study of the Bible but it will help you know when to tear and when to mend. Always seek the Lord in prayer and through his Word as you seek to follow Him!
