God's Plan and Purpose

.

14 I know that everything God does will endure forever; nothing can be added to it and nothing taken from it. God does it so that people will fear him.

So we come to the of our time in Ecclesiastes 3, so what has been the author's point? Don't you remember all those reading and language lessons where the assignment was to read a passage and give it a good title. Sometimes, it asked to state the main idea in one sentence. We are going to do a similar exercise today to make sure the "big picture" Is seen. It's great to see and understand the details but if the main point is missed then it's hard to know what to do with all the information seen in this passage.

Looking at verse 14, the last individual detail is shared. We already know that God is eternal but we learn that his works are eternal, also. No one can steal these eternal works. No one can add anything to God's works. In this passage, there have been many details about God and his character. There have been lots of details about God's interaction with us and how He works in our world.

Why have all af these points been shared? The passages tells us, "God does it so people will fear him." That's our proper response. The Christmas season is a perfect time to concentrate on fearing or giving respect and honor to the Lord which He deserves!
