Having a Great Staycation during Spring Break

Are you having a staycation or a vacation?   Today, let’s talk about some ideas for a staycation over spring break.  There are lots of things your family can do in town or at a nearby community.  Here are a few examples

1.  A sleepover with friends who are in town.  It really will make all the kids who have friends out of town this week forget they aren’t on vacation.  It takes up part of two days which helps some children when her best friend is out of town.
2.  If you belong to a YMCA or similar place, take the kids swimming or do some special activities to use up energy.
3.  Let each child in the family plan an activity during the week.  This could include baking cookies, watching March Madness with friends or doing crafts all day.
4.  If you live in a city with a museum or science center, this can fill a whole day plus be educational.
5.  Have another family over and eat pizza and watch a movie together.  Make popcorn and buy “movie theater candy.”
6.  A trip to the movie theater is special and could be done during the day when the rates are lower.
7.  Get in the car and go see grandparents or cousins for a day.
8.  Plan an indoor picnic with games.
9.  Invite others over and set up carnival games to play.
10.Girls could plan one activity like painting pottery or making jewelry and the boys could go to a sports restaurant and watch March Madness.
If you live in a warmer climate there are lots more outdoor options but I didn’t include those for us “Northerners.”

Have a Great Spring Break at home!
