Have you ever been reading through a passage of scripture and one verse stands out? That’s happened to me many times. It may even be a passage that I’ve read lots of times but this time one verse just “comes off the page.” I will say to myself I’ve read this before but I don’t even remember this verse. That’s the story today with Gideon. Gideon and the army God had chosen of just 300 men were finally ready for the battle against the Midianites. Here is the account.
Then Gideon and the 300 men who were with him came to the Jordan and
crossed over, weary yet pursuing. Judges 8:4
Is that not each of us as a mother. It is especially true of a mother who has a learning different child or a medically fragile child. That is our assignment many times…..weary yet pursuring. The goal is to persevere in spite of the weariness. When we find ourselves in this situation, it’s not the time to give up but a time to look up. There is no more reserve, so it is God who can give us that extra we need to continue. These are the times to pray these promises of God
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give your rest
Matt 11.28
Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we reap a
harvest if we do not give up. Galatians 6:9
Life is hard sometimes (most of the time) but let’s follow Gideon’s example. Even in weariness, persevere in the strength God gives.
