The Best Advice I Ever Received

My Husband has been a pastor for almost 30 years. That means I have been a pastor's wife for the same amount of time. In our denomination, we have pastor who oversees all the churches in a designated area, a district superintendent. I remember this man coming to visit us in our first year of ministry. We were planting a church in a small community and the growth was slow. As this pastor left, my husband asked him if he had any advice for him. We will never forget his answer,

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!

He also gave us some very good counsel. "Don't get too up on the good days and don't get too down on the bad days." What great advice. I try to live by this. Large swings in emotions don't usually bring good results. These emotional responses often are based on responding to circumstances. Focusing on staying on course and looking at things from a long term perspective was what this pastor was telling us. I appreciate this almost 30 years later.

This is good advice for moms, Keep up the good work. A long term perspective is helpful. Stay focused for the task God has called you to do!
