a time to plant and a time to uproot,
3 a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
4 a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
5 a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,
6 a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
7 a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
8 a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.
There is a time for everything under Heaven! Today we start through this list of things that the book of Ecclesiastes shares about all the times in life that occur. Some of these aren't times I like to think about but the writer of this book tells me there is a time for these. It's all apart of God's plan. My job is to receive these times and walk with Jesus throughout these times. Another place in scripture , I read that He will never leave me or forsake me. It is a promise for me as I walk through God's plan for me.
The writer begins telling me there is a time for birth and death. Birth is exciting but death is part of life whether I like the idea or not. God is sovereign. He knows the day each of us will be born and the day our life on earth will end. There is a distinct beginning and end to life as we know it here on earth. Their is joy and sorrow that come with these two events. There are even greater emotions such as gratefulness and grief. Many times, the emotions are strong strong ones. God tells us there is a time for birth and death. These strong emotions are part of the process
Lord, help me to receive what you give me in each season. Sometimes it will be a season that brings joy and life. Sometimes it will feel like a combination when a baby is born with complications or a known medical problem. There will be love and joy for this new life. There will also be fear of the future or disappointment of a loss of a dream for this child. There will be difficult times facing a death especially one of a child, spouse,sibling or parent. Help me understand that there is nothing or no place that I go that YOU will not accompany me and strengthen me with your compassion and love. Amen.
