Most of us long for a simpler life. How does that occur? Honestly, it comes down to a decision of the will. It takes a willingness to cut things out of the schedule. This is not easy. Actually, one might even say it's counter cultural. If you are serious about simplifying the schedule, others might not understand but it can bring freedom. But how is this accomplished?
I can't make that decision for you. But I will share some questions to help you evaluate your schedule?
1. What are the absolutes in the schedule? For me, this would of been church on Sunday, taking my children to school and picking them up 5 days a week and my son's therapy once a week.
2. What is necessary? This includes grocery shopping and medical appointments.
3. What are the negotiable activities? This includes sports teams, lessons, tutoring and camps. How many of these activities enhance your children's life and how many are just too many?
4. How often can the whole family eat dinner together at home?
These are just a few things to think about as you plan your children's schedule for the next season. Simplifying your family's schedule is the first step to simplifying life!
