Life Skills

Over the last few weeks, suggestions have been shared about various events and activities that are challenging for some children. The areas that have been covered are shopping, hygiene, clothing, cleaning and eating. If you missed any of these, they can be found under the interventions and information tab.

Summer is a great time to work with your child on these areas. There is more unstructured time where most families are home. This extra time can be used to teach a child new strategies to deal with some of the above challenges. The summer is "still young" so there is a lot of time to teach new strategies. I always found that once the school year starts that the everyday things left little time to manage and work on new skills.

This series was just a beginning to these subjects. In the next few months there will be more life skill topics addressed as well as giving moms ideas of ways to keep moving forward with the topics discussed over the last few weeks.
