Advocating: Saying Thanks

Christmas is a time that parents can say thanks to those who help them with their children. Think of all the emails that are sent and responded to (teachers, therapists, and caregivers) but never get paid for that time. Many of these people go above and beyond their job discriptions to help your child.

I want to give an encouragement to show gratitude and appreciation. Many of us would not of made it another day without these people. Let them know that you notice what they do. Noticing is great but gratitude is even better.

A gift will be much appreciated. - gift card, cash or homemade food might be a perfect way to say thank you. They are not rich nor do they have a lot of extra time. Many work well into the evening to see clients after school. Teachers stay after school to prepare for the next day. They are tired when they finally get home each night.

These professionals are not perfect but most work with children with special needs because they care. Encourage them. When people are encouraged everyone around them wins!
