Jesus continues to point
out that in agriculture if the extremities of the plant or tree aren’t
connected to the source of life, no growth occurs. He uses this as a word picture of our spiritual
life.
This passage has already
taught us that Jesus is the vine. The
branches must be connected to the vine that is the source of life. This is
Jesus. As a follower of Christ, I must
stay connected to Jesus if I want to bear fruit. He tells us I can’t do it on my own. I need a life giving source and that is Jesus. I won’t produce fruit in my Christian life
without remaining connected closely to Jesus.
Being a parent of a learning different child
is difficult, remember to stay connected to Jesus to bear fruit. It’s essential.
