Wow! This
doesn’t seem to be very encouraging, does it?
When we read a passage of scripture, it has to be taken in it’s
entirety. The encouragement, promises, warnings and rebukes are all a part of
the whole meaning of a passage. On this subject, I’ve
often heard pastors talk about preaching the whole council of God, not just picking and choosing what they want in a passage.
When looking at John 15, I see a warning in
scripture. For those who aren’t
connected to Christ and aren’t a true Christ follower, the result is not
good. There is no fruit only withering
because of a lack of connection and feeding from the source, Jesus. There is the consequence of being separated
from the source forever and being consumed.
Sobering isn’t it?
It’s important to remember that being connected with
Jesus and being nourished by him is the most important thing. As a mom, especially of a learning different
child, life is busy, challenging, demanding and often times overwhelming. The way through is staying close to Jesus.
This difficulty lasts for a little while, our life with Christ lasts for
eternity.
