Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. John 15:4
Jesus continues to point out that in agriculture if the extremities of the plant or tree aren’t connected to the source of life, no growth occurs. He uses this as a word picture of our spiritual life.
This passage has already taught us that Jesus is the vine. The branches must be connected to the vine that is the source of life. This is Jesus. As a follower of Christ, I must stay connected to Jesus if I want to bear fruit. He tells me I can’t do it on my own. I need a life giving source and that is Jesus. I won’t produce fruit in my Christian life without remaining connected closely to Jesus.
Being a parent of a learning different child is difficult, remember to stay connected to Jesus to bear fruit. It’s essential.
