Many times I talk to children that are inattentive to the task I am presenting them. I am giving them instruction on how to stay focused. As an adult I find I can live in the past longing for something that is over. I can live in the plan for the future. I also can wish my day a way and dream about what my perfect life could be like. Just as I attention doesn't help the children with learning differences, the same is true for my more sophisticated version of I attention.
Jim Elliot, the missionary of many years ago, understood this when he said. Wherever you are, be all there. He died very young being killed by the very ones he hoped to reach with the Gospel of Christ. Life is short, focus on what God has given you today.
