Do you believe it? The school year is coming to a close QUICKLY! My local school district has the last school day for students this Friday! I know there are a million things to do before that final dismissal but August will be here before you know it. There are other priorities currently but I want to encourage you to put some time in this summer planning for fall. I am for taking off some time especially if this has been less than a stellar school year. But after a couple weeks in June, it will be wise if you start to ponder how to better advocate for your child(ren) next year.
Advocating takes a lot of time, There are some many areas that have to be covered in advocating. The first is to develop a plan. The next is to develop and/or continue building relationships with school personnel before entering a meeting with them. For now, it would be great if you come up with your goals for the next school year. Summer is a great time to THINK. It is so important to have time to contemplate and pray over the next steps. Over the next couple months, take time to reflect and think about how you might want to tackle school next fall. Life is so busy during the school year there is little time to think through the right course of action. Now is the perfect time for reflection while waiting for kids at swimming lessons!
I will be taking a break from advocating posts this summer. I will be back with Monday posts the first week of August. It will be time to put all your thinking and planning into an action plan. I will be back with a few ideas to help you develop your course of action. Continue to join me Tuesday through Friday in June and July for a few thoughts of raising children with learning differences.
