I have heard the question asked, "Are You comfortable in your own skin?" This is a great question to ask yourself. If the answer is yes, you probably don't need this post. If you are not, or at least need to grow in this, read on!
Let me tell you a little of my journey. I was in a circle of women who were celebrators. They had gifts and abilities in areas I could care less about. They loved to decorate, throw parties and make every holiday special for their families. I tried and tried. I didn't like it but I still tried. I can even remember a friend doing special things for my children on Valentine's Day because she felt bad for my daughters not having a mom who "did it up big!" Now that can give you an inferiority complex!
After a few years of trying to be someone I'm not and failing miserably, I embraced my God-given gifts and style. I had quite a few obstacles to get there. It was fully worth it. I love the everyday. I love children. I love coming beside others. I am good at the day in day out grind of life. For me, special events are overrated. I am not against special events. I can go to them and enjoy them. I do not have the motivation or gifts to orchestrate them.
I no longer ask the question, "why am I not like other women?" I know the answer. God created me with a unique bent to accomplish the task He has for me!
